Gorgeous Tone and Serious Chops: David Hickman Plays Tamberg Concerto, 1977

Originally written for Russian trumpet legend Timofei Dokshizer, the Tamberg Concerto was also played by Dokshizer’s friend and superb player and teacher David Hickman (long-time professor at ASU). Listen to that tone! And those leaps are not for the faint of heart. Learn about how Hickman came to perform the piece throughout the video. Great stuff.
