When I spoke with Ingrid Jensen about practice, she had just returned from Europe and concerts with a bunch of incredible trumpet players (herself included). She was pregnant at the time and said that of all the trumpet players, it was only when Hakan Hardenberger played that her baby began to jump and shout (so to speak), excited by the hugeness of Mr. Hardenberger’s sound; it’s that big. You can hear his gorgeous sound pretty well in both vid clips, but especially in the master class where there is another trumpeter for comparison.
Though it’s always better to hear it live, these are beautiful examples of his playing. Below the vid of Force of Destiny is a master class by Mr. Hardenberger. Enjoy!
